(More customer reviews)One day after spending $400+ on the Light & Motion HID Arc Li-ion 13.5W light and getting it installed on my bike, a wayward basketball managed to cream the light. Ball hit nothing but the light - could not do it again in 1,000 tries if you wanted to.
Anyways, the breakaway disk did just that and the light survived with zero damage. I imagine in a scraping fall the light will take a beating, but the disks do as they claim and do it well. The light can be remounted tenuously for the ride home (keeping an eye on it and holding it time to time) with a broken disk, but I would highly recommend putting a disk or two in your on-board tool kit.
