(More customer reviews)In the past I used my large, AC powered air compressor with a typical car-tire inflation tool with my bicycle tires.(My bike has Schrader valves.)But it gets to be a hassle to run the compressor to "top off" bike tires. Thus the reason for buying this pump. The unit appears well made, as you'd expect from Park Tools. The gauge is large enough to read from 10 feet away, so it's no problem to read while standing over the pump. The large foot pads make it very steady when pumping up a tire.It also has a good volume output, works more quickly than some smaller pumps.
The only issue I had with it was how tight the pump head fits on the valve stem. It's quite a chore to push it on, and very difficult to remove after filling the tire. Some air always leaks out.I had one occasion where I had to pull so hard to remove the pump head, the stem tore loose from the inner tube.Had to replace the tube.To loosen-up the head, I took the gasket out of the head (instructions are on the Park Tool web site) and used the detached valve stem as a reamer to work back and forth in the gasket to open it up a little.
All in all, it's a very good pump and well worth the price. The only caveat is: be very careful when removing the pump head after filling the tire.
