I was often getting flats from thorns and who knows what from my lawn and I was fed up with fixing these or changing tubes so often. I tried the "Mr. Tuffy" liners but had bad luck with them. I tried these extra thick Pyramids and had great success. They are really quite thick and I've had only one flat in a few years but that was a drywall screw. For performance cycling the extra weight might be a concern but for knocking around you will reduce your flat occurance from the little punctures.
